This pedal is a a great idea. There is lots of potential but a few updates to the app and click/drums before it becomes a go to pedal. Currently there is no stereo option for any given track…so to of the 4 tracks would need to be used for a stereo input…but it’s sort of making the pedal do it by arming, and/or overdubbing on 2 tracks at once. A more detailed PDF manual or in app manual would also go a long way. In its current form, I find it easier to come up with an idea with a looper and then re-tracking the part live to my DAW. Since the Teleport can’t be synced to anything or slaved to any clock…importing a track will still take some bumping to match the other tracks in the DAW session. If bumping tracks is still required…might as well retrack to the DAW without the Teleport rather than import what’s on the Teleport. A Teleport plugin would be nice too…or a computer version of the app. Ultimately, the folks at GuitarGate are doing a great job! The Teleport, in its current state, is a great way to improve your playing. stereo setting in the main menu would be nice so the tracks would be automatically grouped. Ideally, all 4 I/O jacks would be TRS so one could have 4 stereo tracks. Panning would be a nice feature as well. Tracks seem to be “auto panned” right now…2 hard left 2 hard right. There are some improvements in how the loops/overdubs are tracked and the ease of sharing when compared to the Boss RC-600, but the Teleport needs a bit more to beat out the RC-600.
Hello & thx for trying Teleport! So - you're correct - Teleport was designed from the ground up to make people play more, get better, and connect with other musicians. So through that lens, you'll understand why we made the decision to have 4 mono I/O's instead of 2 stereo: to allow more individuals to upload a single recording. I like to imagine that each jack on the back is a person in the band you're joining! All my best, and thanks again my friend!! - Michael
Works as promised. Easy to use. Sounds great.
Fantasic! Thanks Louis!
So vary awsome yes still figuring out stuff but wright out of the box was able to connect to internet make three tracks and send off track to guitar gateand friends so cool
Thank you some much for this incredible padal
My pleasure! Looking forward to playing together, Raymond!!
The Teleport is amazing. It’s simple to use; very intuitive. The idea behind being it seems so simple, it’s hard to believe nobody has thought of this until now. There are many ways the Teleport can be used. For example, band members can share musical ideas from wherever they may be. You can share/add riffs, leads, bass lines, etc…. Even vocals (if you dare/not myself off course). You music can be shared publicly, allowing others to add parts, or keep it private if you so desired. I personally use the Teleport to work with my son who began playing guitar less than ago. It helps with accountability a great deal. He records his practices following his Guitargate Lessons and shares them with me via the Teleport portal.
I only wish these were around when i first pick up a guitar many years ago.
What a fantastic use for Teleport, Keith! That's what it's ALL ABOUT: connecting through music. Keep an eye out for the weekly teleport full band lessons. I'm going to be making a weekly song and breaking down each part (bass, thythm, lead, etc.) for us all to work on together and jam with. Lastly, please let me know how I can help along the way - I'm here to help. All my best to you and your son - Michael
Simply love the teleport!! Opens up so many options to quickly lay down ideas to composing full songs all while being able to share with folks globally. Love the ability to overdub on a single track and having built in drums/click track is money! Very well thought out and executed. Well worth the purchase price😎
Love it!! Thanks Darin! Love seeing what you're making :)
Frequently Asked Questions
I have an interface why do I need a Teleport?
Teleport is a fast and fun way to send chords and riffs to your friends, and quickly hear them out of your amplifier. It's small, simple, and you don’t need bother with email or crappy voice memos. It's sort of like asking: "Why do I need an iPhone? I already have a desktop computer."
Can't I just use a DAW and Google Drive?
For sure. But Teleport connects you to other musicians, not just people you know. And it makes sharing ideas as easy as sending a text message. And you can route each track to different amplifiers for a live band in the room sound.
How does this actually make me better?
Let's be honest, most of the time you pick up your guitar and just play stuff right? Or maybe you use a loop pedal? Well, Teleport combines a drum machine and a looper to make practice super fun. You tap your tempo then lay down a loop so you can practice rhythm and harmony at the same time. After two weeks you'll notice an improvement in your playing, guaranteed. After a year, you'll be a far, far, better player.
What if I don't have anyone to share songs with?
You can find other Teleport users on the mobile app! Make friends and find musical companions all over the known universe. Teleport exposes you to all kinds of people playing all kinds of styles, so you can broaden your musical vocabulary.
What happens to the music I upload to the feed?
Uploaded songs default to private. You only make songs public or share with others if you want to. If you want to make a commercial release, just get your collaborators ASCAP id and share the love (and by love we mean royalties).
How come nobody thought of this before?
Great question. It seems like an obvious thing to build. So we built it, although it wasn't easy. We had to get FCC approval and all that. So we hope you like it.
